Low Tide on the Bay of Fundy

The boats rest on the ocean's floor at
Low Tide

High Tide on the Bay of Fundy

At High Tide, the boats are now floating level
with the wharf.

Watching the tides rise and fall at the Alma Wharf is a favorite pastime for guests.  These two pictures are the same view, but were taken approximately 6 hours apart!

Our accommodations are right next to Fundy National Park, which means you are close to a wealth of outdoor activities, sightseeing opportunities, interpretive seminars and fun events.

Area Tourism Information

Do you like hiking, biking and other outdoor activities? Fundy National Park has over 100 kilometers of hiking and biking trails, a salt water swimming pool, golf, tennis, boating, two covered bridges, waterfalls, scenic coves, stunning vistas and lakes - all part of this wonderful outdoor playground.

Within the village of Alma, take a kayak adventure on the Bay of Fundy with FreshAir Adventures,  "have a say" with the local fishers, or spend the day beachcombing on the ocean's floor.

A vacation is not complete until you enjoy a feast of our famous Fundy lobster as well!  Seafood is our specialty, and Alma has several fine restaurants, take-outs and fish markets.

Cape Enrage Lighthouse - The coastline of the Bay of Fundy doesn't get any more rugged than this.   Visit the lighthouse keeper's tearoom or gift shop, explore the beach or try rappelling.

We are also only 40 minutes from the world famous flowerpot rocks at the Hopewell Rocks, where you will find the highest tides on this side of the Bay!  Kayak around the flowerpot rocks at high tide with Baymount Outdoor Adventures.

In July and August, the shorebird migration takes place along the Bay of Fundy.  A prime viewing area is the Mary's Point Bird Sanctuary.  Visit the interpretive centre to learn about the amazing journey of these sandpipers and plovers, before walking to the beach viewing area, where you can safely view their aerial acrobatics without disturbing them.  (Note:  Plan to visit during high tide periods).
